My Top 5 Easy (and Budget-Friendly) Decorating Ideas

You may be surprised but giving your home a much-needed spruce up needn’t cost the earth!  You can easily revive any room in your home with my cost-cutting decorating tips!

If you’re currently on a tight budget (like most of us are), you’ll be looking to make as many savings as possible along the way.  That’s why I thought it would be useful to compile my easy and budget-friendly decorating tips and tricks to help you improve your home.  Small updates can really help to make a huge visual difference in any room and often all they require is a quick lick of paint and some TLC to give them a brand-new lease of life!

  1. Create your own urban jungle

Adding plants to your home will help to breathe some much-needed life into any décor scheme and in a brilliant white room, they easily add a wonderful pop of colour.  If you’re not green fingered, there’s no need to worry as there are plenty of great fakes available on the high street. You should definitely check out online brands like Bakker.com.  I have ordered from them on a number of occasions and the plants are all still alive (which is a minor miracle!)

  1. Upcycling is your new best friend

If you’re in the mood to throw out a piece of well-loved furniture…don’t.  Make sure to take another look to see if it will be possible to upcycle the piece of furniture.  It’s surprising what a new coat of varnish or paint can do!

  1. Get cosy with sheepskin

If you’re one of the last remaining people who doesn’t yet own a sheepskin rug (or a faux sheepskin) rug, then this decorating tip will involve a trip to the shops.  If you’re on the hunt for a natural sheepskin rug, then you will be hard-pressed to find a better option than John Lewis. Here, you’ll be able to own your very own sheepskin for just £35.  If you’re looking for a faux sheepskin, then the famous Tejn Ikea rug is the one for you. This option is great for your bank balance at just £10!

  1. Give your cupboard door handles a makeover

You can easily give your kitchen units a much-needed facelift by swapping out drawers or cupboard handles for an updated design.  Bar handles are definitely having a moment just now as they will suit any modern kitchen style.

  1. Create your own art gallery wall

Photo galleries are a great way to bring some life to any cheerless corners in your home.  Why not experiment with size and shape, as well as frame design to create something truly special?  Best of all, this decorating tip is quick and easy – and affordable!
